Why do I need a proof of age card?

Many organisations need to be sure of your age or identity. Using a proof of age card is voluntary, but it can make life much
easier. Even if you have a passport or driving licence, a PASS accredited proof of age card means you can leave these more valuable documents safely at home.

Is a Proof GB proof of age PASS card widely-recognised?

Many retailers, airlines (domestic flights) and other organisations recognise PASS cards as valid photo-ID or proof-of-age.
As a scheme audited by the Trading Standards Institute a Branded Card Company Proof GB managed photo ID card carries the PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) accreditation, supported by the Home Office.

Can anyone apply?

Babies, children, adults, senior citizens, in fact anyone, anywhere in the world, can now obtain a PASS accredited card.
However if you are under 16 one of your parents or your guardian will need to sign the application form as well.

Are any parts of the world excluded from the scheme?

No. Branded Card Company schemes are authenticated global photo-ID schemes. Regulatory and enforcement authorities
can check with us on the validity of any card or cardholder. We authenticate 100% of card applications, so in certain parts of the world our verification procedure may take longer than normal.

Which PASS schemes are powered by Branded Card Company?

Whilst Branded Card Company is a PASS accredited bureau and card issuer it its own right, we currently provide managed
services under the Proof GB brand. There will be other schemes that Branded Card Company will power for retailers, local
authorities and brands that have a vested interest in ensuring that their customers are old enough to purchase their products.

How do I apply for a card?

You can click on the Proof GB link and select Application Form or Application Form [PDF] and down load a copy or complete
online www.proofgb.com .   Alternatively you can pick up a Proof GB application form from your local retailer. You provide your personal details (full name, date of birth, address, full phone number, email) and details of your referee or - if you are at school or university - your teacher or tutor (name, address, telephone number, etc.) You will also need to provide your or, if you are under
18, your parents' credit or debit card details.

Can I complete my application online?

You can pay for and partially complete your application online. Your application form must then be printed off and submitted to us
by post. This is because your application form will require signing by your referee in all cases and by your parent or guardian
where relevant. Once completed fully, the application form must be sent to us along with the other elements we need to process
your application such as your photograph,.

Who can act as my referee?

If you are in full-time education at school, college or university your form teacher or tutor must act as your referee during term
time. For all other applicants the permitted referee, who must be over the age of 25, can be either a: doctor, dentist, police officer,
civil servant or a minister of religion who knows you and who can confirm your identity and age. A relative of an applicant cannot
act as referee even if they fit one of the above categories.

How long does it take to process my application for a card?

A. Typically it takes up to 15 working days for standard applications but it may take longer if we have difficulty in verifying your identity and age. If you need your card urgently we can process an application within 3 working days of receiving your application.
For a same day card issue which is available on a pre-booked or a distress basis, your Proof GB card will be prepared while you
wait provided you have all the necessary documentation with you to support your application

How much will it cost?

That depends on the type of card that you are applying for.
Standard Proof GB postal applications cost £10.95 in the UK. The urgent application charge is £22 and should you require a
Proof GB card to be prepared and issued to you personally via our same day service, the cost is £35. If your card is lost or stolen
a replacement card will cost £5. If you wish to refresh your card with an up to date photograph, the cost will be £5.

If my application for a card is not processed, will I be eligible for a refund?

If we have been unable to process an application because of a fault that the applicant has made then we will be unable to refund
the cost of the application, most of the cost charged to applicants is to cover the processing and verification of the application.
If Branded Card Company is at fault then a full refund will be given.

Can I apply for my whole family

Yes you can. Proof GB is available to part or whole family groups for which a reduction in the 'individual' price is offered.
This is because we can verify a family application where a single referee applies to all the family members involved.

How do you verify my application?

We verify every application to check your age and identity. The precise details of how we do this are confidential. We use various tools such as electoral registers, address files and credit reference agency files. We also telephone your referee, whose identity
we confirm.

Are my personal details kept private once I give them to you?

All your personal details are kept on our secure database which is not connected to anything else. We do not pass on any of these details to any third party without obtaining your permission first. We comply with the privacy and data protection laws of the United Kingdom Government, which are amongst the worlds most stringent. We keep your details on our database so that if someone queries your card we can confirm that you are a legitimate cardholder. If your card is lost or stolen, holding these details will also mean we can produce a replacement card quickly.

How quickly can I receive my card?

Once we have processed the application your PASS accredited photo ID card is posted to you immediately (2nd class post in the
UK, standard airmail to the rest of the world). Urgent applications are sent out by special delivery (guaranteed next day in the UK,
4-5 days in the rest of the world).

Does my card ever expire?

No. However you may wish to refresh your card with a more up to date photograph or if you have changed your name.

What happens if my card is lost or stolen?

You should notify us if your Proof GB card is lost or stolen.  

How do I complain if I believe Proof GB has failed me?

In the first instance, email your complaint to complaints@proofgb.com . We will acknowledge your complaint within one working day. We will attempt to respond fully to your complaint within 3 working days. If you remain dissatisfied with our attempts to resolve your complaint, you can write to:
